About: Time To Talk

Karen Slade

A Space for Connection

Time to Talk began with a simple observation: in our fast-paced, often overwhelming world, we've lost many of the natural spaces for meaningful connection  with ourselves and with each other.

I'm Karen Slade, creator of Time to Talk. My journey into psychology and emotional wellbeing started where many do  through personal experience. As a mother of two teenagers and navigating the complexity of modern relationships, I became fascinated by the power of thoughtful conversation and reflective practice.

This led me to pursue my MSc in Psychology, followed by formal counselling training.  I created Time to Talk as a way to share psychologically-informed tools that could help people navigate their emotional landscapes with more confidence and compassion.

Our Values

Empathy over judgment.

creating emotionally safe spaces where all feelings are valid.

Time to Talk products and resources never prescribe how you "should" feel or what emotions are "right." Instead, they create room for your authentic experience, whatever that might be.

Depth with clarity

Making psychological ideas accessible without dumbing them down.

Complex emotional concepts don't need to be clinical or confusing. Our approach translates nuanced psychological insights into language that feels both sophisticated and accessible.

Subtle strength

Celebrating emotional expression as resilience, not weakness.

There's profound courage in vulnerability, in speaking difficult truths, in staying present with uncomfortable feelings. Our tools honor the quiet bravery it takes to show up authentically.

Connection as healing

Between partners, parents and teens, or within ourselves.

The quality of our connections profoundly impacts our wellbeing. Whether it's strengthening a relationship, bridging generational gaps, or deepening our relationship with ourselves, meaningful connection is at the heart of emotional health.

My Approach

My approach to emotional wellbeing draws from evidence-based psychological research while honoring the very human, sometimes messy reality of our emotional lives.

I believe that:

  • We don't need to be "fixed" – we need to be heard

  • Small, consistent moments of reflection build powerful self-awareness

  • The right question, asked at the right time, can change everything

  • Healing happens in relationship – with others and with ourselves

  • Everyone deserves access to psychological tools that respect their intelligence

Each Time to Talk product is designed with intentionality, from the carefully crafted prompts in our conversation cards to the thoughtful sequencing in our journals. These aren't random collections, but deliberate pathways to deeper understanding.

While Time to Talk is not therapy, everything I create is informed by sound psychological principles and designed to complement professional support when needed.

I'm dedicated to creating resources that stand in the space between self-help and therapy – accessible enough for everyday use, but substantial enough to facilitate real insight and growth.

The Invitation

Time to Talk isn't about having all the answers. It's about creating space for the questions that matter.

So take a breath. Go gently. And when you're ready, I invite you to explore the resources here – whether you're seeking to strengthen a relationship, navigate grief, connect with a teenager in your life, or simply understand yourself a little better.

This is a space for quiet bravery. Big emotions are welcome here.
